How do I add songs to my Mimio files?

Travis Rink's picture

How would I add a song from my documents files to the Mimio as a link?

Answer:

Adding multimedia to your lessons can bring an added richness to the quality of your learning experience. Adding sounds or songs is a great step in the right direction if it fits your needs. To add a sound to your Mimio file, click on Insert > File and then browse your computer to the file of choice and click Open. A sound icon will show in your file that you can resize and move. To play the sound, just click the icon. Using MimioStudio 7 for the PC (Mac version will be released mid-November 2010), you can set an action to objects you place in your file that will play the sound of your choice when you click the object. As an example, let's say I have a car graphic in my file that when clicked will play a car motor sound. To set this up, select the object that you want to click to play the sound. Right-click on the object and choose Action Settings. The next dialog box will have an Action and Feature dropdown menu. In the Action settings, choose "On Click" and in the Feature settings, choose "Play Sound". You will then be prompted to Load your sound file. Click the Load button and browse your computer to the sound file that you are wanting to play. Click Open and then OK on the next screen. The graphic will now have a blue border around it indicating that it has been assigned an interactive action. If you click anywhere on the object, the sound will play. To get rid of the blue border, we have to Lock the object. Move the object where you want it placed in the document. Select the object, right-click and choose Lock. This will lock the object in place and remove the blue border. If you want to move this object, simply right-click anywhere on the screen and choose Unlock All. If you don't have a right-click capability, all of these actions can be found in the Format menu option in MimioStudio. Hopefully this gives you a couple ways to add and work with sounds to fit your needs.
