Learning about Voting and Elections

Tracy Tishion's picture

I'd like to develop a lesson on general information about voting and elections but couldn't find any premade lessons. Can you suggest any that might help?

Answer:

I would suggest utilizing the usa.gov website which is packed with voter information including the history of elections and voting. There are vocabulary pages as well as pictures, links, and many topics relevant to our upcoming elections. So much of the information can be easily incorporated into your own lessons for the grade level you teach. The link to the specific section of the usa.gov website is https://www.usa.gov/voting-laws-history. You could even try a google advanced search of voting and elections with the file type preference being PowerPoint presentations. These types of search usually bring up many educational presentations ranging from elementary through high school levels. Happy hunting and creating! As always, if you get the chance, check out the many other tips and suggestions found in Ask a Master.

I have viewed a number of the Mimio pre-recorded webinars and have found them to be extremely informative. I would like to use them as part of my own professional development for technology. Is there a way to obtain a certificate for continuing education units after watching/participating in these recordings?

Answer:

Absolutely and you are so right. The Mimio Webinar series of live events and recordings are very informative and packed with lots of great suggestions, examples, and tips to enhance your Mimio experience in the classroom. Each live webinar or the pre-recorded webinars offer continuing education units via a certificate of completion once the webinar has been watched (by live participation or watching a recording). To obtain one for the pre-recorded webinars, you'll receive a link at the end of the viewing experience to click on in the chat box, take an assessment, submit it, and then a link will be emailed to you for the certificate. To obtain a complete listing of webinars, just follow this link: http://www.mimio.com/en-NA/Events/Tradeshows-Events.aspx.
