Summary:This is a poem that I teach to my 5th and 6th graders that is taken from Dr. Seuss. I have the students read the poem together to a certain rhythm (message me for the notated rhythm). I then substitute, one at a time, a body percussion sound for the words "Wump, Hump, Gump, Bump, and Jump."
For example: The first line reads "Did you ever ride a Wump? We have a Wump with just one hump."
The word "wump" is highlighted in red which means that you will clap instead of saying the word "wump." So, it would be performed as such:
"Did you ever ride a [clap]? We have a [clap] with just one hump."
You would read the entire poem substituting the words for the sound. The you would add the next sound and so on (5 sounds total).
Forgive me if this sounds confusing... Please feel free to contact me for a detailed video that describes the method and shows you how to perform it.
Best Wishes!
Josh
