Short Vowel Compilation: Updated!

Total views: 7639

This lesson for first graders is a compilation of each of the short vowel lessons: Be a Fan of Short "a", Short "e" is Best, You Can Win with Short "i", Be on Top with Short "o", and Short "u" is Fun. They are compiled here for your easy downloading if you prefer to have each lesson together as one.

Included in the attachment tab is the Mimio Vote assessment questions that are pulled out of each lesson above and included as one assessment. Also included as an attachment is the lesson "Short Vowel Frenzy" which is a separate short vowel review, including several short vowel video links.

Note that I have kept the previous compilation available if you preferred that version, but each of the short vowels have been updated separately.

Great job on your lessons and activity creations. You know your kids and age appropriate activities, as teachers do. Mimio is truly a wonderful tool and you are doing a nice job putting Mimio to work for you and your kids! :)

Thank you, Mimio!

Thank you, Mimio for the feedback and suggestions. I often do not use the easy to difficult and few to many strategy in lesson creation because I find it more time consuming than necessary in teaching a lesson. First graders, whom my lessons are most geared for, lose interest in a concept quickly and don't often want to spend too long on one type of activity. For that reason, most of my lessons have one page for each activity, although a lesson may be 4-5 pages long. The concept gets taught on different pages in different ways in order to keep interest, rather than the same activity from easy to difficult or few to many.
Hopefully that clarifies for other users as to my intent for leaving that strategy out of my lessons intentionally!

Thank you for your feedback. It is helpful to know that users appreciate the efforts that go into creating a lesson and knowing it can be used outside my classroom enables me to do more!
